Uta Macross: Smartphone Deculture is a mobile rhythm game focused on the Macross franchise. The game was released to celebrate the franchise's 35th anniversary. Songs, characters, mecha, and episode references featured in Uta Macross range from the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross that aired in 1982 to the most recent series, Macross Delta. This site is a collaboration between players and Macross communities.
Official game development and history
DeNA officially announced the game's development on On March 21, 2016. A teaser was released on August 28, 2016 during broadcast. The commercial featured a dancing CG Freyja Wion and Minori Suzuki narrating what songs will be featured in the game. The trailer also featured several new artwork of classic Macross characters, along with sample gameplay footage. A playable demo was released for attendees of Walküre 2nd Live: Walküre ga Tomaranai at Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan on January 28th and 29th in 2017. The game was delayed from an original release of Spring 2017 to Summer 2017.
The game underwent closed beta testing from June 22 through June 29, 2017. It was later officially released on August 3, 2017 for Android and iOS smartphones via the Japanese Google Play and Apple App Store.
After nearly 5 years of active service, DeNA announced that the game servers would be taken down on June 28, 2022. While the game can still be installed, players can no longer connect to the official servers and play the game.
